Candlemass 25th Anniversary: Epicus Doomicus Metallicus

Candlemass is celebrating 25 years of sludge-riffs and soaring vocals. Original vocalist Johan Längquist will join the band to play Epicus Doomicus Metallicus in its entirety.

Cool of Robert Lowe (current vocalist) to let them do this (hope all is well with him, because he is a great singer).

I still think this album has one of the most metal titles of all time. This is what DOOM metal should sound like!

BUY THIS ALBUM: Candlemass- "Death Magic Doom"

The new Candlemass album "Death Magic Doom" came out a few weeks ago and only managed to sell around 800 copies in the first week. This release may be one of the best of 2009 and Blabbermouth recently gave it a nine-out-of-ten.

Do whatever it takes, but BUY THIS ALBUM!!!

Candlemass Streaming "Death Magic Doom" on MySpace

First the new Heaven and Hell track "Bible Black" went up and now the entire new Candlemass album "Death Magic Doom" is streaming online.

Check it out here.

UPDATE: It appears the new album is no longer streaming on MySpace, but the new track "If I Ever Die" is still on there for your listening pleasure.

If you don't know who Candlemass is do yourself a favor and pick up the albums "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus" and "Nightfall" two of doom metal's best contributions this side of Black Sabbath.

Rob Lowe sounds good on the mic and the rest of the band is rockin' as usual.

Right now I'm doing a brief listen through and "Hammer of Doom" is offering some tasty sludge-laden riffage.

The album is out to buy on May 5.

Even More New Music!

Mastodon announce they will be releasing a new single Divinations, Cannibal Corpse streams their new album Evisceration Plague via MySpace and God Forbid debuted a new track.

You can check out my previous posts on Cannibal Corpse and Mastodon.

Hell while you're at it, here is a link to the Lamb of God post I made with the link to Set to Fail.

Here is the new God Forbid tune Walk Alone:

But wait! There's more...

I discovered that doom legends, Candlemass, have also released some previews of songs from the new album Death Magic Doom due out April 3.

Is it just me or are the next 3 months going to make me go even further into debt with CD purchases?

Candlemass!

I was reading a list of the top 10 Doom Metal bands from IGN.com.

I am glad that IGN has been finding the time lately to support metal music in general and this is actually a pretty cool list.

Nowadays it seems like the sludge/doom metal moniker is overused, but throughout the years there were bands that made the genre great.

This song is one of the catchier and more awesome Sabbath inspired riffers though. Check it out!
