Holy Bondage Goat Zombie Batman!

Ah, sorry I was just checking the blabbermouth.net news, putting off homework as usual, and I saw a video for the song "Bondage Goat Zombie" by Belphegor. I am down with the whole black and death metal movement, but you gotta admit it can get a little ridiculous.

Call me old fashioned, but I will take King Diamond over most of the black metal acts out there today. I gotta give props to Behemoth though, that last cd wasn't bad. Like all black metal you have to be in the mood to listen to it though.

Oh yeah and in other news on blabbermouth... well here I will just post it...

LA Weekly's Daniel Hernandez reports on his blog Intersections that a bizarre wave of mob emo-bashings ("emos" are followers of the "emo" subculture, which is short for "emotional") is sweeping across Mexico. According to Hernandez, "The movement is being generated on message boards and social networking sites by non-emo youth who highly dislike like the emo look and attitude. The spark came first in Queretaro on March 7. An estimated 800 young people poured into the city's Centro Historico hunting for emos to beat the crap out of. They found some.

Who knew?

Anyways, just saying that I hoped you all enjoyed the show tonight! Here is the new video for the In Flames song that I played on the show, The Mirror's Truth.

If you want to find hell with me...

I can show you what it's like!

Ah, sorry just listening to some Danzig, what a great band.

Anyways, I am back in Iowa City and The Metal Show is back on this week Wednesday night from 7-9PM! There will be lots of cool news and metal music to keep you rocking throughout the night.

Oh, and a cool tour rumor: Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell and Motorhead are rumored to tour the U.S. sometime this year. If it happens I will be there! Another rumor is Judas Priest with the Scorpions which would also be amazing.

Remember this are just rumors of course. Now go on and listen to some Danzig!

Ah, Spring Break!

I hope that you are all sipping on some cold drinks sitting in the sun, or if you are out in the real world, at least taking some time to sit back relax and enjoy yourself.

Anyways, Blabbermouth put up a funny story about a dog that seems to enjoy death metal. Check out the story here . However, if you just want to see the video it is right here.

Enjoy, and have a good Spring Break, it is going by too fast!

Can you do the Milano Mosh?

Hey metalheads, Randy here for another metal rant. Well more of a review of what was a great concert at the Vaudeville Muse in Des Moines, IA.

Last night, a couple fellow metalheads and I, went to see a little band known as Methods of Destruction (M.O.D. for short).

The frontman of the band is none other than Billy Milano of S.O.D. fame. Charlie Benante, Scott Ian and Dan Lilker were the other members of S.O.D. and together they recorded the album Speak English or Die, which was a huge success. Charlie and Scott left to focus on Anthrax, leaving Billy Milano behind to start anew. So, he naturally made a new band in the fun spirited thrash-metal vein of S.O.D.

And now, Billy Milano is still going strong with M.O.D. The second I entered the Vaudeville Muse I felt like I was entering a time warp to a 1980's thrash concert. To the left of me there were patches of oldschool metal bands being sold. The crowd consisted of a lot of dudes with long hair, but don't get me wrong there were still some females and, uh, "modern" looking dudes too.

Opening was the great Black Market Fetus. (sorry we missed the first opening band) Those guys always put on a great show, black and thrash inspired metal that is a lot of fun. A circle pit was going the whole time, but everyone was actually moshing respectfully and no one was touched who didn't want to be in the pit! (these kids listening to metalcore and hardcore need to learn a lesson)

Finally, out came the man himself, Billy Milano, with the rest of the guys in M.O.D. The guitar player told the sound guy exactly what he wanted for sound during the soundcheck and they sounded amazing because of it.

Here are just some of the cool songs they played:
"Aren't you Hungry?"
"Kill Yourself"
"Milano Mosh"
"Hate Tank"

Milano also filled about half the set with his humorous stories and Republican rants, but I found them enjoyable and I am a Democrat!

If you ever get the chance, check out M.O.D. in concert. You will have a good time, guaranteed.

P.S. I met Billy Milano in person afterwards. He is the classiest musician I have ever seen. You can tell he actually loves the music he is playing and his fans. If you get the chance check out some of M.O.D.'s old stuff (USA for M.O.D., Devolution, etc.) As well as the new album "Red, White and Screwed".

The video I wanted to put up currently is not uploading, but I will try again here soon...

And you thought I would forget about the blog!

It's Spring Break, but your loyal metal DJ Randy is still updating the Metal Show blog in his free time. Remember as said earlier, no metal show this Wednesday, but then the Metal Show will be back to its regularly scheduled programming from 7-9PM on KRUI 89.7!

I just wanted to personally tell everyone that the new Meshuggah album obZen is amazing and kicks much ass. You can purchase it for a little over $8 on iTunes. Or, even better, head to your favorite CD store and buy that shit!

As for those of you who downloaded the CD I hope you get shot... ok maybe not... but you should be supporting the music you love.

Oh, and I am in Des Moines and plan on catching Billy Milano with M.O.D. tonight at the Vaudeville muse. Black Market Fetus will be opening. (great Des Moines metal band)

If you are still debating purchasing the new Meshuggah CD, watch this great video and then think of this song with better production and more brutal and you have the new Meshuggah album!

Videogame metal?

Man, it seems like there are so many different genres of metal, but who knew that videogame metal existed? (besides in brief Dragonforce solos)

There is a band named Powerglove, which is a homage to the NES accessory of the same name, and they have a MySpace with some tunes, a cool website and are even going to be the openers for Dragonforce at one of their shows.

Check them out at this website

Dragonforce always seemed like a band you would listen to while playing F-Zero on the SNES, but this band takes videogame songs and covers them. Check out the Tetris theme song on their myspace it is pretty insane.

OH AND IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW THE METAL SHOW WILL NOT AIR NEXT WEEK DUE TO SPRING BREAK AND INTENSE PARTYING. THE METAL SHOW WILL BE BACK ON WEDNESDAY MARCH 26 FROM 7-9PM ON KRUI 89.7!

Speaking of partying check out this video of "Headbanger Face Rip" off the album, "The Art of Partying" by Municipal Waste

Note the homage to the mighty TROMA film company.

F@#! the Police!

Wha?

Apparently this poster was on display for some metal concert in New Zealand. Police tried to stop the performance because the poster advertised the show as Kiddyfest and had an image of a cartoon boy with no pants on...

Not sure of the advertising strategy, but the pic doesn't seem too out of line, just crudely drawn ha. I am pretty sure any sane mother wouldn't be taking their little kid to a concert with the bands Innard Splatter and Gorehouse either...

Good ol' blabbermouth news stories. Check the full story out here.
