THE RETURN OF THE METAL SHOW ON KRUI 89.7FM!

If you didn't notice the change at the top of the page, The Metal Show will be rocking the airwaves starting next Monday, January 25, from 8 - 10 p.m.

As usual, I will try and keep The Official Metal Show Metal Blog updated as much as possible (and as much as my other work obligations will allow).

News is still pretty slow right now, but hang on tight, because things will begin picking up in the metal world before you know it!

As always you can listen to the metal on KRUI 89.7FM in Iowa City, or stream it over the Web on KRUI's official site.

I will leave you with some music from Chimaira's 2009 album The Infection. I didn't really listen to this CD all that much when it came out, but the last few days it's all I've touched.

It kind of fizzles out about 3/4 of the way through, but the first 5 tracks are so are just heavy slabs of groove. The song below is called "The Disappearing Sun".

Chimaira and Toxic Holocaust Music Video Double-Header

Check out this new music video for the song "Destroy and Dominate" from Chimaira's latest album "The Infection".

I actually think what I have heard of the rest of the album is better than this song, but I guess it's a good thing when you can release one of the worst songs on your album and still have it be an OK single.

Chimaira - Destroy And Dominate

Next up, we have a video from modern day thrash band Toxic Halocaust" for the song "Nuke the Cross" off their latest album "An Overdose of Death...".

Is it just me or is it becoming hip to be thrash again? Even old thrash bands seem to be reuniting that I never heard of in the first place! Anyways check out the video below.

It has the essential items every metal music video needs. Loud guitars. Leather. Fire. Guitar players on fire. Solos. And mosh riffs. Goddamn!

New Streaming Tunes from Chimaira and Agoraphobic Nosebleed

If you are like me, you like to get your hands on all the new music you can, so here are links to two bands that are streaming music online RIGHT NOW! Although it's probably for a limited time only.

Chimaira has a new CD called, "The Infection", which is advertised as being "available at Target for only $8.99". While Target is not very metal, Chimaira is a decent metal band, although I admittedly, don't listen to em' much.

From what I have heard of the new album, it seems to be a decent album with lots of groove. This month's Decibel magazine gave it a 6 out of 10 in the reviews section, which is about right (starts to feel a little samey halfway through).

Check it out for yourself here.

Also the Massachusetts grindcore innovators in Agoraphobic Nosebleed are streaming new music on their Web site (album is called "Agorapocalypse". I usually am not a huge fan of grindcore and drum machines, but this stuff is kind of cool and full of energy.

Listen to it on the band's Web site now.

Have a rockin' weekend and crank the metal!
