Although I don't particularly like Jimmy Fallon's brand of humor, I do appreciate that he isn't afraid to have metal acts perform on his show (it seemed like Conan used to do this a lot too in this timeslot). Granted, Fallon probably doesn't book the bands, but I imagine he might have some say in the matter.
Check out Slayer's performance of "Hate Worldwide" below off the album World Painted Blood. I haven't actually listened to that record in awhile, so maybe I'll give it another spin.

Dave Lombardo v. The Taxi
I enjoy me the new Slayer as much as I enjoy me some drunken hijinks. Listen to legendary drummer Dave Lombardo tell the tale of the Taxi Tackler.

More Slayer Leaks Online: "World Painted Blood"
Another track has leaked off World Painted Blood and is available on the Slayer's MySpace.
I think that the new song is definitely cooler than "Hate Worldwide" and "Psychopathy Red", although the production still doesn't sound all that great to me (curse you Greg Fidelman!).
I know bands like capturing that "raw" sound, but I think Seasons in the Abyss and South of Heaven had better production than this.
Anyways the song itself is an epic five-minute track that has a slower groove to it. I'm digging all the variations in riffing going on and the usual chaotic solos.
Decibel gave the album a 9/10, so I'm looking forward to hearing the whole thing on November 3.

Slayer Unveil "World Painted Blood" Album Cover

Four limited edition covers that form together to make a bloody world map. The album is called World Painted Blood. Get it?
Collect them all.
Speaking of blood I had this song stuck in my head earlier today. It's called "Bloodline" off of God Hates Us All. An album that has some good tunes, but shitty production (this video sounds better than the CD).

Metal Rumor Report: Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax Tour
Apparently in UK's Metal Hammer magazine Kerry King mentioned that Lars Ulrich had been contacting people from the above mentioned bands about getting a tour together.
Now the odds of this happening are slim-to-none, but just imagine how amazing that tour would be... and probably expensive. Plus who would headline? I would imagine they would all have to work it out so they played about evenly or there would be some infighting for sure from the get-go.
Also King already dealt a blow to Anthrax by saying:
"I said in this day and age, I know we had that time together, but how do you leave out MACHINE HEAD? There's better options than ANTHRAX and that's nothing against ANTHRAX, but they've just been in pieces for quite some time and that doesn't make as much sense to me."
Look for updates as they become available.
UPDATE #1: Scott Ian is game, in a recent interview he was quoted as saying the statement below.
"There's this big rumor that we're gonna do METALLICA, ANTHRAX, SLAYER and MEGADETH next summer in Europe, and this is supposedly coming from the METALLICA camp. So whether it's true or not, I'm really excited about it, and I'll say right now that we will absolutely do it. So we're in. [laughs]"

Slayer Releases Another Track: "Hate Worldwide"
You can check out the new Slayer song "Hate Worldwide right here.
Is it just me or do the guitars sound a bit too "happy" for Slayer??? The tune is another short number in the vein of "Psychopathy Red". It's not bad, but "Seasons" part II this is not (I'm only saying that, because that's what the band compared it to). Plus the production feels a little weak.
"Hate Worldwide" will be available for purchase at Hot Topic stores tomorrow as a single, while "World Painted Blood" is due out later this year.

Slayer and 3 Inches of Blood Album Info
Today both Slayer and 3 Inches of Blood announced the titles of their forthcoming albums.
Slayer's new CD is entitled "World Painted Blood" and should be out sometime late summer. The album is being produced by Greg Fidelman, who received some criticism after working on Metallica's "Death Magnetic". Kerry King said that the record's songwriting was split about 50/50 between him and fellow axe-slinger Jeff Hanneman, which sounds good to me. Hanneman is an underrated guitar player and talented songwriter.
"Psychopathy Red" has been out for awhile now, but you can get in another listen below for a taste of the new CD.
I also found this video on YouTube labeled as Slayer performing a new single on the Henry Rollins Show which made me laugh. The headbanging in the beginning to the music is pretty awesome.
As for the new 3 Inches of Blood album, that one is going to be called "Here Waits Thy Doom" and it should be out on September 8. This will be an important CD for the band's career, so hopefully they can put together some good catchy metal music.
"Advance and Vanquish" is still the band's best in my book, but "Fire Up the Blades" had some good tunes as well (see below).

New Slayer v. New Megadeth: "Something for everybody?"
In a recent interview by Blabbermouth.net, Slayer guitarist Kerry King said that the new album "has a little bit of everything", but is most similar in sound to "Seasons in the Abyss".
Even more recently, Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover said that the new album "has something for everybody".
What does this possibly mean and is "something for everybody" going to become the next overused descriptor for a band's new album?
United Abominations was a decent album, but none of the tracks really stuck out in my mind that much (I actually think "The System Has Failed" is more memorable). "Christ Illusion" was a step up for Slayer, but sounded a bit samey which is a problem for many Slayer albums.
Plus whenever I hear "Psychopathy Red" I'll always think of the fake lyrics some person put up on Blabbermouth.
I'm hoping that Mustaine's hype of guitarist Chris Broderick will play out on the new album and that King's "Seasons in the Abyss" description is accurate. If so, we could have two great metal albums in our hands in the next few months.

Megadeth and Slayer Team Up to Fight Crime... I mean... Tour!
It turns out that the rumors going around about Megadeth and Slayer taking part in a co-headlining tour are true. It was announced today that the thrash legends will be touring together along with Machine Head and Suicide Silence for our neighbors to the north. That's right so far, there are only four dates with this line-up and they are all in Canada!
More than likely you can expect tour dates to be announced in the States shortly, or else there are going to a lot of pissed off Americans!
As for the opening bands... meh! It seems like Machine Head, despite my feelings of them being only a mediocre band, are always picked to open for the big name metal acts.
Why not get a band like God Forbid that deserves more exposure, or at least a cooler band like Gojira to kick ass opening up for this tour. Better yet, do some research and get a lesser known band that deserves some publicity a chance (yeah, I know that the labels probably put this stuff together).
As for Suicide Silence, I think they could have found a better fit. There are a ton of bands that sound similar to this right now, that are actually doing it better. But who am I to judge?

Slayer is METAL!
Sorry for the lack of recent updates, but I promise you there will be more and very soon! Until then, watch this awesome video from the metal masters in Slayer.
"Seasons in the Abyss" is one of my favorite metal albums and songs. Sometimes everything just connects in a piece of music and this is one of those instances.

Vader Gets the Big Label Treatment
So I read that Vader joined the ranks of Nuclear Blast Records today. Congrats to the dudes for rockin' death metal for so many years and keeping at it in the true spirit of all that is metal. To celebrate I am posting an old-school video, in fact, it's Vader's first music video for the song "Dark Age".
So enjoy in the true spirit of death metal, grainy video and all!
Also these guys do a mean death metal cover of "Raining Blood". It's faster than Slayer plays it and the drummer doesn't break a sweat! Check it out below.
