Congratulations Lamb of God!
First off I just wanted to say congrats to Lamb of God who landed at the number two spot on the Billboard Charts after selling around 68,000 copies of the new album "Wrath". That is their best debut to date! ("Sacrament" sold 63,000)
I finally got the physical CD this week and I will be posting a review of it soon on The Metal Review.
The main point I wanted to bring up though is that God Forbid's new album "Earthsblood" only sold 5,400 copies in its first week of release. And while they charted at number 110 on the Billboard Charts and number two on the Heatseeker's chart, they still deserve to sell even more.
I ordered my copy online right away after seeing this. I tried to order the new CD here in Iowa City, but no store got it in so I was sick of waiting, plus I wanted to support the band. It is a great CD! I will review that one too, as soon as it arrives in the mail.
The main point of all this is that metal is still alive and well in the music world, especially if a band such as Lamb of God can debut at number two on the Billboard Charts! Lets hope that the album will continue to sell will in the following weeks.

Delay of Game
So I planned on playing new God Forbid and Lamb of God stuff on the show tonight, but like many well thought out plans, it fell through.
I ordered the albums (each at a different record store) in order to support local business here in Iowa City and somehow neither store got the albums in today. I don't hold this against the stores, but it still SUCKS!
Blabbermouth.net gave the new Lamb of God an 8.5 out of 10 and God Forbid a 9.5 out of 10 in the review department. With scores like those, there is little reason not to check out these releases.
Despite my inability to get the physical CDs, I will play a new tune from each album and then plenty of great metal on the rest of the show. Tune in from 6-7 p.m. on KRUI 89.7!

Lamb of God versus God Forbid: Tune-in February 24, 2009
It is almost the last week of February and in the first two months of 2009 there have already been some great metal releases.
Kreator- Hordes of Chaos and Cannibal Corpse- Evisceration Plague are bound to be contenders for at least one of the top five metal albums of 2009.
Saxon's Into the Labyrinth delivered the sound that listeners know and love, while incorporating some blues elements into the mix. I haven't had a chance to listen to the new Napalm Death album, but if grindcore is your thing, then look no further than Time Waits for No Slave.
The always underrated Derrick Greene-era Sepultura released A-lex, which I also have not been able to buy yet. From what I've listened to so far it isn't as good as Dante XXI (which was a great CD, one of Sep's best in my opinion), but it still sounds like it has enough elements to make it an interesting listen. And there is plenty to head-bang to.
Tuesday two of the newer generation of metal bands will be releasing CDs. Lamb of God's Wrath and God Forbid's Earthsblood both come out on February 24th. I should have both of the albums to play on the show then and I will try and get reviews posted over on the review blog ASAP.
Just to make it more interesting, I figure it will be a Lamb of God v. God Forbid sort of event. I will not only review the albums individually, but also I will end with a post comparing the two.
Lamb of God may be the popular favorite, but you can never count out the underdog hungry for the kill (God Forbid in this case)!
UPDATE: Felt like this post needed a video. Here is Lamb of God's video for a song that always makes me feel energized, Now You've Got Something to Die For!

New God Forbid album Earthsblood Rains on MySpace
I just started playing it and it is sounding good! Check it out at God Forbid's official MySpace page.
There is a mellow orchestrated opener and then it gets right into business with The Rain which I'm sure many of you have heard by now. Has some great melody and vocal work on it. Empire of the Gun is a heavy number the band has been playing live for awhile. Then the badass War of Attrition gets the head banging.
UPDATE: Listen to The New Clear. It is awesome.
Stay tuned for a full review soon and check out The Metal Show Tuesday night from 6-7PM for new God Forbid, Lamb of God, Cannibal Corpse, Mastodon and the classics you know and love.

Even More New Music!
Mastodon announce they will be releasing a new single Divinations, Cannibal Corpse streams their new album Evisceration Plague via MySpace and God Forbid debuted a new track.
You can check out my previous posts on Cannibal Corpse and Mastodon.
Hell while you're at it, here is a link to the Lamb of God post I made with the link to Set to Fail.
Here is the new God Forbid tune Walk Alone:
But wait! There's more...
I discovered that doom legends, Candlemass, have also released some previews of songs from the new album Death Magic Doom due out April 3.
Is it just me or are the next 3 months going to make me go even further into debt with CD purchases?
See the album art and player below:

God Forbid Go Green
God Forbid is a newer band that is waving the banner of heavy metal for a younger generation (OK so they have been around for a little while now). I picked up their album before I went to a Anthrax show which they were opening for.
I liked what I heard on the album IV: Constitution of Treason. A modern sound, but definitely influence by old-school metal as well.
Live, the band put on a better show than most of the bands I have seen at their level. High energy and great sound.
Now they are preparing to release a new album called Earthsblood which is due out Feburary 24, 2009(same day as new Lamb of God)!
This band seems to be getting stronger and stronger with each album, so lets hope they keep up the trend with this new release.
Here are some clips from the new CD!
And if you want more while you are waiting check out the video for the song The End of The World off IV: Constitution of Treason.
